Bloggers Unite for Refugees United

Millions of refugees are suffering uncertainty and atrocities every day. The blogosphere is a powerful way to raise awareness and aid. Knowledge can bring change. The ongoing problem of people torn from their homes is something that should, and must, concern us all. In order to find a common solution and bring back life and dignity to the millions suffering we must call awareness to this ongoing matter. So, please join us, and thousands of other Bloggers, by participating in this important cause .

Today's 10 Links a Day: 10 Organizations Dedicated to Refugees

  1. Refugees United
Refugees United provides refugees with an anonymous forum to reconnect with missing family. By registering with nick- names, scars, former locations and other markers only identifiable to family and close friends, everyone can remain 'invisible' to all but relatives. Donate to this cause by clicking here

  2. Refugees International
Refugees International advocates for lifesaving assistance and protection for displaced people and promotes solutions to displacement crises.

  3. UK Refugee Services via Red Cross
The Red Cross supports thousands of people every year, helping them to access local services and adjust to life in a new country.

  4. Lutheran Refugee Services
LIRS is one of the nation’s leading agencies of its kind. We resettle refugees, protect unaccompanied children, advocate for just treatment of asylum seekers, seek alternatives to immigration detention and stand for unity for families fractured by unfair laws.

  5. Aotearoa-New Zealand Refugee Services
We are a not-for-profit, non-government organisation committed to supporting the successful resettlement of former refugees within a welcoming and inclusive society. Since our beginnings in 1975, our staff and volunteers have assisted more than 40,000 refugees to settle and build new futures here in Aotearoa New Zealand. Former refugees can now be found in every walk of life, making a wonderful contribution to the social, cultural and economic fabric of our increasingly multicultural society.

  6. United States Committee for Refugees and Immigrant Children
Helping people fleeing war and persecution for nearly 100 years.

  7. Women's Commission for Refugee Women & Children
The Women's Commission's mission is to improve the lives and defend the rights of refugee women and children, including the internally displaced, returnees and asylum seekers.

  8. The UN Refugee Agency
The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees was established on December 14, 1950 by the United Nations General Assembly. The agency is mandated to lead and co-ordinate international action to protect refugees and resolve refugee problems worldwide. Its primary purpose is to safeguard the rights and well-being of refugees. It strives to ensure that everyone can exercise the right to seek asylum and find safe refuge in another State, with the option to return home voluntarily, integrate locally or to resettle in a third country.
